The 2016 Verbier Festival was a hit amongst the residents of the Swiss resort town, as well as the tourists who made the journey specifically for the occasion. The festival, founded in 1994 by Martin T. Son Engström, is a celebration of classical music. This year, it saw appearances from around the world, including Kate Aldrich, Bryn Terfel and András Schiff. As well as the artists, the festival attracted big names by way of sponsorship. Coffee giants Nespresso, Swiss private banking powerhouse Julius Baer, as well as philanthropic organisations such as the Sandoz Family Foundation and AVC Charity. Local businessmen and women also contribute to the festival including Margarita Louis-Dreyfus and brothers Patrice Bailo de Spoelberch and Alexis Bailo de Spoelberch.
